Hello, I'm Amanda Van Kuren and I am enrolled in the ADK course for July 2010. I am currently till doing my undergrad work as a Childhood education major, and I am taking this course to fulfill my classes for my concentration in environmental studies.
Since I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher. It wasn't until i taught the four year olds at a local pre-school that made me decide that I wanted to teacher children. I want to be a teacher so I can inspire children and encourage them into wanting to learn. I think that it was very important for students to be fully engaged into a lesson so they can learn the best.
My professional goals that I have in mind for when I become an actual teacher are to want my students to want to be at school and want to learn. I want to create a fun and exciting learning environment and get them ready with knowledge they need to learn. As most people say, I want to create an impact on a child's life and encourage them to learn in the best way that I can.
At last, my goals for this course for the week that I am with everyone is to make new friends, and learn from them as well. I think that this is an experience that not everyone gets a chance to see and it truly is fun and exciting.
